Bad Blogger

Yes, I know I'm a terrible blogger, but I'm a busy kid or absent minded and I forget to do things.

Here's a quick update. Patrick is down 17 lbs now and is shortly going to break into the 220s. Yeah Patrick!! We are going to either have to start making new notches in his belt or break down and get him a new one or he's going to look like on of those gangsters with his saggy pants. Ewww. I can't have my husband looking like that!

I am down about 9 lbs and have lost more weight this month than any other month in my whole life. I've discovered some clothes in my closet I had been holding onto that fit again. Yippee!

Tonight, we are going to spluge on a bit of dinner. My best friend growing up parents are in town and we are going out to dinner. Chili's has 2 for $20 - how can we pass that up, the brownie, ice cream, and chocolate syrup dessert that is...

Confirmation

We got the good scale brought in last night and this morning I got confirmation that yes, I am under 250 lbs - 247.5 to be exact!

Patrick is down 14 lbs total and dropping.

Scale Issues

Our scale gives you a different weight every time you stand on it. I guess we are going to work on averages for a while. Patrick takes whatever it gives him the first time and it is usually the lowest number.

So, using Patrick's rule, as of this morning I'm under 250 lbs for the first time in years!!

WOO HOO!!

Update

Okay Mom, here's your update.

As of this morning Patrick is 237 down 11 pounds. I'm at 251 down almost 5.

I was happy I lost today even though we had a little splurge last night. (warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream)

We're doing it....

We are both using Weight Watchers and we are losing. Tomorrow is weigh day. I now earlier in the week I was down to 251 and that made me happy!

I'm going to start doing Jillian Michaels' 30 day Shredd workouts. I didn't know but she also suffers from PCOS, as does Posh Spice and Alyssa Milano - who would have thought!

I'll check in with our weigh in tomorrow.

Uncle!!

Okay, so after a little over a week on the hCG diet, we have decided that there has to be a healthier and more balanced diet.

I am so upset that I was so excited to start the hCG diet and it has not worked out well. I was following the protocal and trying to drink my water and I started losing weight and then it started slowly coming back. I AM STARVING!! I JUST WANT TO EAT AND NOT BE HUNGRY IN 15 MINUTES AND STARVING IN 30. I am not sure if my PCOS issues or one of my other health issues are playing into the diet not being as successful.

Patrick had much more weight loss success than I did. He's down almost 10 lbs, but he is exhausted by vacuuming the house and is so foggy headed he can hardly think. He's been turning to lots of water to curb his hunger, but in turn ends up in the bathroom all the time. He can't continue to be so foggy and go to school.

So, we are going to stop the hormones and looking into other avenues. I think we will be going back to Weight Watchers and I will just keep a very close eye on the carbs and salt.

We are going to do this and we are going to lose weight in 2010.

We gave in...

After doing some research I think we messed up at the beginning of the diet. We didn't really fat load, we carb loaded and that's not the same. So, we are starting over. We are going to do another day of fat loading (doing it right this time and eating fat) and then back to the strict diet on Saturday.

I was putting weight on on day 5, which was not suppose to happen. Patrick is losing weight, but starving (and cranky).

We really want to make this work, so we need to do it right.

We ordered pizza and wings at 9:30 tonight mostly because we were both so hungry we couldn't sleep and the only food in our house is veggies, cabbage soup, and some lean meat.

This Bites!!

Okay, we are not even at a week and we are both already having motivational issues! I talked to my boss and he said it takes about 3 weeks to get passed the cravings and missing the food we aren't getting.

If somebody brought me a Double Quarter Pounder Meal, large size, with a coke - I would have the whole thing gone in .5 seconds.

I started off well and then kinda slacked off on my water and now I've gained .4 of it back - we are really having second thoughts.

That is the reason I purged the whole house before we started this fun diet.

Stevia is our friend! It is an all natural sweetner that is flavored with things like vanilla, orange, lemon, and soon to be Patrick's new favorite, root beer.

Tonight we had dessert, strawberry shortcake. Melba toast, slice of strawberry, and a couple drops of vanillia stevia. It is not as good as the real thing, but it will work in a pinch.

Today's Weigh In:

Alison - 251.0 loss of 4.4 lbs

Patrick - 243.6 loss of 2.4 lbs, but he did lots better on his fat load with a gain of 3.6 vs my 1.5 lbs.

End of Day 4

It is the end of day 4 and I have to say I'm pretty happy with the diet so far. My biggest complaint is I have to pee every 15-20 minutes, but it is safe to say my system has been flushed. Patrick is having a bit harder time adjusting. He's hungry and lacking energy, but he will adjust soon!

Over the fat loading days I gained 1.5 lbs, but as of this morning I had lost 2.2, so really I've lost .8 since the beginning of the diet. Patrick has lost 1 lb total with the gaining with the fat loading.

I am learning to cook without using any fat. So far I've done garlic and herb chicken tenders, some very skinny steaks, and halibut. I'm learning to use more spices and vinegars (mostly apple cider and balsamic) and the best part is Patrick is eating it and seems to enjoy it. Next week I want to tackle making "chicken egg rolls" using cabbage leaves instead of egg roll wrappers. Here is a picture of my dinner tonight. Romaine lettuce, cucumber, couple tomatoes, and my protein, shrimp.

I'll update later this week with our weights (as soon as we get the weight off from the fat loading).

End of Fat Loading

Thank Goodness!! We had anticipated this part of the diet to be fun. 2 days of eating lots of anything we wanted - how bad could that be??

Well, we have found it to be awful! We rarely eat this much. We've had pasta with lots of cheese, ice cream, brownies, hard boiled eggs, whole milk, and pretty much anything else we could find and our reward for that, Patrick ended up with such an upset stomach yesterday, he lost weight. That is definitely not suppose to happen. You are suppose to gain the first couple days. Tonight I can't stand the sight or smell of food, that makes it a bit difficult to eat.

I think they do this so we feel gross and are thrilled to start eating the restricted healthy dinner.

On a happier note, I did get our house purged of things we can't have (expect a delivery to your house Mom). I figured before we could eat this stuff again it will be a least 18 weeks and by the time we are done, we won't want it anyway.

Tomorrow will be a better day!

Day 1

We officially began the diet today. Day 1 and 2 are fat loading days. Last night I came home with the most unhealthy groceries I've ever bought in one day. Pizza, Alfredo sauce, donuts, ice cream, Little Debbies, avocados, and who knows what other fattening thing I found.

For the next two days we will be eating at least every 30 minutes and we can have anything we want and lots of it! Sounds odd for a diet, but the extra fat will help our body through the transition to the very low calorie diet.

Once the diet starts, we can have all the water, tea and coffee we want, 1 TBS of milk in a 24 hour period, 2 servings of protein a day (3 oz cooked), 2 servings of fruit (strawberries, apple, or orange), 2 servings of veggies (cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, that kind of thing), and 2 melba toasts a day.

And the reason for this diet:

Today's Weigh In:

Alison - 255.4 lbs

Patrick - 246 lbs

We want to wish you all a safe, happy, & HEALTHY New Year!!
